NCK excavator factory, Warren Lane.
Newton Chambers began manufacturing excavators in 1935 in association with the American firm Harnischfeger & Paulin hence the designation NCH. A new excavator factory was built but before it was finished war broke out and tanks were made instead of excavators. After the war an agreement was made with another American firm Koehring & Co and a new range of excavators was produced with the designation NCK. In 1958 the excavator firm Ransomes and Rapier was bought out.
