Sir Richard Scott’s almshouses, Barnes Green. Shown here are some of the almshouses on Elliott Lane. This photograph was taken in the 1920s and shows Mrs Bibbs, a widow from Woodend, in the central doorway with her grand-daughter, Mary Mellors, on the garden seat. The almshouses were demolished about 1950.
