Westwood Rows and Westwood Dam.
Westwood Rows, like the Thorncliffe Rows, were built by Newton Chambers to house blackleg labour during their mining disputes in 1869-70. On 21 January 1870, a large crowd of striking miners armed with picks, pistols and spiked bludgeons attacked the rows. Twenty-three miners were sent to York assizes for trial. The rows were demolished in the late 1960s. The dam was constructed by Newton Chambers to supply the ironworks. The whole area is now a country park.
