Packhorse Inn, Mortomley, High Green
The Packhorse Inn with buildings on the right hand side.
These wooden buildings were leased by Newton Chambers and built by the army who lived in them for awhile. After the the 1st World War they were used by families, due to the housing shortage. In 1930 they were occupied by the 9th Wentworth Scout Group and during the 2nd World War it served as Local Nation Fire service depot. In 1945 used by the British Legion - 1st Headquarters, had 2 huts renovated.
