Greenhead Gardens, Chapeltown
These multi-storey residences (Greenhead Gardens) are shown here under construction in 1965. Chapeltown was then administered by Wortley Rural District Council which was the first RDC to embark on a high rise scheme. When completed in 1966 it provided nearly 200 flats, 38 maisonettes and a community centre. The three blocks of high rise flats have now been demolished.
