Thorncliffe Fabricated Column Negotiating a Roundabout in June 1962
The 131 foot column was in difficulties as it negotiated the roundabout in Chapeltown. The column was made in the Construction Shop at Thorncliffe and weighed 44 tons. It was on its way at 8 mph to an oil refinery in South Wales.
