Thorncliffe Bungalows from NC Brochure.
After the First World War with a shortage of housing, Newton Chambers began the production of cast iron houses. The walls were built from cast-iron plates and covered on the outside with a coating of concrete. Experimental houses were built in Mortomley Close at Chapeltown which are still in existence today. Two estates were built in Derby. Shown here is the Thorncliffe bungalow which was offered at the price of £285 if built within ten miles of the works.
