Curdew Smith & the Wass children.
Mr Curdew Smith is seen here on his 98th birthday with members of the Wass family. Mr Smith was a retired employee of Newton Chambers’ Thorncliffe Ironworks. On his 100th birthday he was visited by the chairman of the company, Sir Harold West, who presented him with a pipe and two months’ supply of his favourite tobacco.
