Original Potter Hill Methodist Chapel c. 1960.
The original Potter Hill Methodist Chapel c. 1960. This building was the first Potter Hill Methodist Chapel photographed just prior to its demolition on Potter Hill Lane across the road from the later building. It was erected in 1815 at a cost of £180. In addition to Sunday services and mid-week meetings the Sunday School scholars were taught to read and write. In the 1830s there were 280 scholars and teachers – hence the need for a bigger building. After the new building had been erected this building became the school room for the chapel.
