Charlton Ironworks 1988.
Charlton Brook Malleable Ironworks was listed in a Trade Directory of 1879 under the ownership of Jabez Stanley and Edward Aston. By 1898 George Harvey had taken over the firm and it was making cooking ranges, mantles etc. By 1947 it had become Charlton Ironworks, and while still making cooking ranges, it began to specialise in manhole covers and street drain covers and frames under the ownership of Tom Oxley and later Michael Oxley. It closed in the early 1990s and the site is now covered in housing.
