Minnie Blazey (nee Jepson) of Ecclesfield, 90th Birthday - 16th April 1990
This photograph shows Minnie Blazey (nee Jepson) of Ecclesfield on her 90th birthday at the Cheshire Cheese at Hope, Derbyshire. She was taken out for the day as a birthday surprise. The people in the photograph are (left to right): Julie Quine nee Blazey (Minnie's granddaughter), Minnie Blazey and Miss. Dronfield. The date was 16th April 1990.
Miss Dronfield also had her 90th birthday within a few days of this photograph being taken. Both Minnie and Miss. Dronfield worked at Ecclesfield Surgery on Church Street in the 1920s and 1930s. Minnie was the caretaker and used to help wash out medicine bottles for Miss. Dronfield, who was the dispenser.
Minnie was living at 14, Colley Road, Sheffield at the time this photograph was taken, and Miss. Dronfield at the Methodist Home for the Aged at Hathersage. They had not been in touch for many years when they were reunited on Minnie's 90th birthday.
