Schools Resources
Posted on 28th May 2020 by Emma Collins
A set of resources for schools has been produced to support the collection of new material for the project as well as encourage schools to look at the historical material on the website. The guidance notes and Key Stage (KS) packs, one for each KS are designed to help teachers decide on the form of contribution and offer some ideas for engaging young people. These resources are intended to be starting points for further exploration and knowledge seeking, which will help to develop and improve children and young people’s research skills, presentation skills and consolidate their learning. While the KS packs have been designed to provide some ideas, they can be changed and adapted as appropriate. Due to the wide range of themes on the project website and the age ranges to be covered, each Key Stage offers ideas around one theme. The stimulus materials can be mixed and matched to suit class ability and individual children’s needs, and can also easily be combined with different themes. The examples presented here, therefore, should not be seen as complete modules of learning. Copies of the packs and further guidance on their use can be obtained from the project co-ordinator, Christine Handley at the Ecclesfield Parish Council Offices, tel: 0114 2845095.
