Ecclesfield Civil Parish Archiving Project Events 2015

Wednesday 2nd December:
Yuletide and Christmas Traditions at Newton Hall, Chapeltown from 2pm to 8pm. Free to attend. Share your memories of past Christmases and Winters: Bring along a photograph, postcard, picture, recipe, old decoration, memory for the Archiving Project Yuletide memory wall. Scan and upload your photo. to the digital archive and website. WW1 Traditional Christmas: Find out what Christmas was like 100yrs ago during WW1 with Jenny Bland (the History Van) – listen to a short talk about Christmas traditions and have an opportunity to make a decoration to take away (2.15 to 4.30pm). Traditional Carols & Music: Listen and join in with local songs and carols led by John & Vic. Bowden. The Natural History of Christmas & how Victorians re- invented Christmas: Hear about how the Victorians invented our modern Christmas traditions with an illustrated talk by Ian Rotherham at 6.30pm. Displays, Christmas Quiz and refreshments - afternoon tea 2.30 to 6pm.
Friday 27th November:
Parish Council Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Palliative Care Unit at the Northern General Hospital. The event is at the Parish Council Offices and Community Room between 10am and 1pm. I am working with Heritage High Green and we are putting together displays on shops & shopping as well as progress on the archiving project. These will be set out in the Council's meeting room with refreshments and fundraising stalls in the Community Room. It will be an opportunity to see the new project website. Please come along and join us for a coffee and a chat and help us raise funds for a worthy cause.
Wednesday 25th November:
Down Memory Lane - Where are we? at Ecclesfield Library, High Street, Ecclesfield from 3 to 4.30pm. We are holding another informal session where we are asking people to bring along a photograph or two which they want help with to identify the place or people shown. A chance to share anecdotes, stories, maps and photos. Please bring along examples to share. Free, no need to book and refreshments available.

Down Memory Lane - Connections at Ecclesfield Library, High Street Ecclesfield from 3 to 5pm. After the success of the previous events we are holding another informal session with a chance to share anecdotes, stories, maps and photos. Please bring along examples to share. Free, no need to book and refreshments available.

A Walk Down Memory Lane at Ecclesfield Library, High Street Ecclesfield from 2 to 4pm. After the success of the first event we are holding another informal session with a chance to chat about the 'old area' and share anecdotes, stories, maps and photos. Please bring along examples to share. Free, no need to book and refreshments available.
Wednesday 23rd September:
Ecclesfield Past & Present Archiving Project, an illustrated talk at Ecclesfield Library 7.15 to 8.30pm. Come along and find out more about the project and the historical material that is being collected as part of the archiving project. Free, no need to book

Reminiscences Afternoon at Newgate Close Sheltered Scheme, High Green.
Saturday 18th July:
Oral History Training at Grenoside Reading Rooms. This is a 1-day workshop from 10am to 4.30pm for volunteers who would like to be involved in oral history interviewing as part of the archiving project. The workshop is free with lunch included. Places are limited to 12 so pre-booking is essential.
Thursday 2nd July:
Tea Time Reminiscences at Chapeltown Library 2pm - 4pm. Join us for a chat about how looking after house and family have changed in the last 60 years. Tea and cake provided. Please book your place - phone 2845095 or email christine.handley@ecclesfield-pc.gov.uk
Thursday 25th June:
'Meet the Project' and find out more about how to get involved. 10am to 2pm at the Ecclesfield Parish Council Offices.
