Class at Mortomley Roman Catholic School, 1919.
A Roman Catholic Primary School was opened in 1886 as part of the church buildings at the same time as the original Roman Catholic church. By 1889 there were 94 pupils. The church and school were built on a site presented by the owner, the Duke of Norfolk. A new school, separate from the church was opened in 1907. Standing on the left in the photograph shown here is parish priest, Father Williberord Donkers.
