Mr and Mrs George Senior, Bakers, Lump Lane with their son, Harry.

The Seniors started their bakery after George Senior lost the sight of an eye in a mining accident at Thorpe Pit. They decided to set up a bakery in their home at 7 Lump Lane in 1920. Mrs Senior,  with the help of her daughter, Nelly, made pikelets, oatcakes and teacakes. George went round the district on foot, selling their baking from a basket. The front room of the house was turned into a shop and a small bakehouse was built onto the back.

Business expanded and in 1928 they moved to a three acre site close-by. Eventually a horse-drawn van was bought for deliveries and later a motorised vehicle. For many years their son, Denis, drove the van as did Lawrence Fleetwood. They produced bread and confectionery of all types. They supplied confectionery to Walshs of Sheffield and bread to Cockaynes, in addition to four shops of their own (in Chapeltown, Crosspool, Parkhead and Bradway) and several market stalls. The business ceased trading in 1991.
