The troop first registered in January 1912 as 25th Sheffield (Ecclesfield) Scouts becoming the 1st Wentworth (Ecclesfield) in 1921. The first officers were Messrs F. Nesbitt (SM) W. Beard and D. Hayes. The troop owed much to the assistance of Mr A. Robinson (treasurer) and Mr. A. Mawson.
