Oliver Cottages, Ecclesfield.
Variously known as Wragg Wheel, Oliver Wheel and Oliver Cottages, this water-powered industrial site was first recorded in 1510 in the will of a scythe maker. It was later occupied by a cutler and then from 1767 until 1810 it operated as a water-powered paper mill. From the 1820s for at least a century it was a fork making works. During this phase the site also became a residential community with as many as twelve households, some of the cottages being converted from industrial premises.
