Ecclesfield Hospital Parade, family float.
Each float was made by a group of families living in a particular group or row of houses. Everything was done in secret because the floats were part of a competition with the winner leading the whole parade. Once the theme for a float was decided, an expert metalworker or woodworker from within the group would make the frame which was then cleverly covered with coloured paper and other materials. This small float announces how much money had been collected.
