Transcription of letter:-
[page 2]
Tomb on Nov. 24th 1922, - and have been in Temples of all the Eastern religions – from Turkey to China.
When Lound School opened in 1907 – I went there – and Mr. Elliott was Headmaster with Mr. Sawdon as his assistant. --- The new Head of the Junior Dept. at Burncross then was Mr. B. Platts from Warren School – until he retired in July 1941. --- Mr. Evans then transferred from Warren to Burncross – until he retired in July 1955.
Miss Spittlehouse was then appointed Headmistress until she went to Windmill Junior School – which of course is now in your own time.
I have always said Burncross was my best school although in later years – I lectured in many schools, colleges and universities. Two things I was taught at Burncross – was how [underlined] to learn – and how to remember. – These 2 “learnings” have taken me through the British, Navy, Canadian Army and the U.S.A Army – and 3 wars!
If I can help in any other way – please let me know – and when you have finished your history and story of Burncross School – will you kindly forward me a copy, - and let me know costs etc.
Yours sincerely
Frank Burtoft
P.S. Enclosed is one of my hundreds of cuttings – from one of my 6 Newspaper Cuttings books – which record a little of my exciting life – so far!
