Lane End Working Men’s Club.
Originally known as Lane End Workmen’s Hall, it was erected by Newton Chambers of Thorncliffe in 1864 as a club for their workers. It is said that some of the building materials were from the first Mount Pleasant Chapel. During the lockout of 1869-70 a company of Royal Dublin Fusiliers was billeted here to keep the peace in the district. The building was demolished in 1972.
