Warren Lane.
The term warren was often used in medieval times for that part of a deer park that was set aside for breeding. Warren Lane follows the southern boundary of Tankersley Park, a medieval deer park. The settlement shown here on the southern side of the lane grew up in the nineteenth century to house workers in the collieries and at Thorncliffe Ironworks.
