Coach & Horses, Chapeltown.
The landlord, William Platts, stands proudly at the front door of the Coach & Horses on Station Road. Like the Wagon & Horses, this public house was (and still is) well located beside the very busy main road between Sheffield and Barnsley. But in William Platts’ time there was another source of good trade in the summer each year. This was when the travelling fair (Chapeltown Feast) occupied the once open-ground behind the pub, attracting very large crowds to the stalls, rides and sideshows.
