The Wagon & Horses, Chapeltown.
Looking very different from the recently renovated public house occupying the same position is the Wagon & Horses of more than a century ago. Standing at the crossroads of the main road routes between Rotherham and Huddersfield and Sheffield and Barnsley it was in exactly the right position to intercept horse-drawn carts and wagons, hence the sign ‘GOOD STABLING’ prominently displayed on the wall. The landlord at that time was William Major.
