Mount Pleasant Methodist Chapel, Chapeltown.
This Methodist church was built in 1866 on the site of an earlier chapel built in 1806. The foundation stone was laid by Thomas Newton of Newton Chambers who was a staunch Methodist. In 1906 on the centenary of the first chapel, bells and a clock were installed in the tower at a ceremony performed by Mrs Freda Newton and the clock was called Freda by generations of local people. The building has now been converted into living accommodation.
