Ecclesfield Grammar School was officially opened on 28 September 1931 by Lady Mabel Smith of Barnes Hall. It cost £33,000 and could accommodate 470 pupils. Seen here are members of the academic staff in 1960. In the middle of the front row is Mr Arnold Jennings the second headmaster. He became head in January 1959 on the retirement of the first headmaster, Mr A. C. Harrison. The school became a comprehensive in 1967.
