Thomas Chapman, born on the 15th October 1809, was a filecutter and Landlord of the Acorn Inn. He is pictured here with his children William (left), Frederick (centre, 5 years old), and Matthew (right). This has been copied from a water-colour painted in 1858 by Mr G Elliott. Thomas was Mrs Elliott's great-grandfather.
