High Green Secondary Modern School staff, 1960.
This school, on Greengate Lane, now a primary school, was originally built as a senior school for boys in 1928. After the 1944 Education Act it became a mixed secondary modern school. Shown here are the staff in October 1960, with the head teacher, Frank Piper, seated in the middle of the front row. The school had a high reputation, not only academically, but in music, sport and handicrafts.
