Howbrook group Pig killing c1900
Amos Dransfield, the pig killer, is on the left and on the far right is William Lee. The men standing third and fifth from the left look remarkably like Laurel and Hardy! Amos Dransfield was a miner who lived on New Street in High Green. Nothing of the pig was wasted: various pork joints were accompanied by bacon, ham, black pudding, lard, brawn, chitterlings, pig’s feet and hocks.
