Chapeltown Silver Prize Band, 1930s
Looking very smart in their new uniforms, the band pose outside the Miners’ Welfare Hall in Chapeltown in the 1930s. The band first played in the 1870s and is still going strong, being promoted to the Second Section from January 2012. In 2013 the players ranged in age from 13 to 67. Originally most players lived locally but now they come from all parts of Sheffield and some from further afield.
