An aerial view of Lound Side, Lane End, Greenhead and Burncross Road in 1944.   Running at right angles to the bottom edge of the photograph is Housley Park with St John’s Church, Mount Pleasant Chapel and Lound Primary School visible on the bottom right of it. On the bottom left is Greenhead and Loundside and the road along the left is Burncross Road. On the immediate left are Hunshelf Road and Steven Crescent. Top left is the Bracken Hill camp used at the end of the Second World War for housing Dutch children. On the right at the top is the Potter Hill camp used for German and Italian prisoners-of-war and then American Air Force service men. The hamlet of Charlton Brook is in the centre at the top.
