Housley Hall, Chapeltown.
Housley Hall (Housley meaning the house in the woodland clearing) was first recorded in a thirteenth century charter. It was owned by Archbishop Rotherham and the Housley and Freeman families before being inherited by the Earl of Wharncliffe of Wortley Hall. At various times it has been the home of members of the Chambers family (of Newton Chambers), a boarding school and a tenanted farmhouse. It is now privately owned.
